Why the 8th Doctor?
There are Doctor Who websites everywhere: doctorwhonews.net, tardisnewsroom & kasterborous.com to name only a few. In all the websites on the World Wide Web, there are no websites devoted to the 8th Doctor. Sadly the Paul McGann Doctor has received little press mostly because he had only one TV appearance. But the 8th Doctor has lived on beyond the FOX movie. He has had adventures in a range of books and not to mention the Big Finish Audio Series (which this website counts as Doctor Who Cannon). The 8th Doctor is as much apart of series history as any of the other actors who played the part. So I ask: Why not the 8th Doctor.

Helen Sinclair
Helen was a language scholar for the British Museum during the 1960s. Her career was stymied by the misogynistic attitudes of the time, and the "old boys" network working against her. Despite being more then qualified for a promotion, she was denied the position by her superior who felt she wouldn't be able to commit fully due to the "fact" that women were "too emotional." (AUDIO: The Red Lady)
Helen had never been abroad until she travelled with the Doctor, and carried a box brownie camera with her. (AUDIO: The Galileo Trap)
In 1963, while working as an assistant to Professor Walter Pritchard, she met the Eighth Doctor and Liv Chenka who were in search of a temporal anomaly related to the Eleven. Joining them whilst they investigated a collection of artefacts featuring the Red Lady, she became involved in a mystery involving extraterrestrial elements. Not having seen any of the artefacts featuring the entity, Helen was unaffected by her influence, and was able to help prevent the Doctor and Liv from succumbing to her effects. After they defeated the Red Lady and the artefacts were "disposed of," Helen was dismissed from her position and threatened with being reported for the police, her boss being suspicious that she was behind their theft. Impressed by her help, the Doctor offered her the chance to join him in the TARDIS, which she accepted. (AUDIO: The Red Lady)
Arriving in Florence, 1639, she was immediately fascinated by the opportunity to visit history, so much so that she wished she had brought her camera so she could take pictures of it. She joined Cavalli in investigating Cleaver and saw her first spaceship, helping the Doctor and Galileo to defeat him and Fortuna, his fellow Volkbrood. (AUDIO: The Galileo Trap)
She was used in the Eleven's game against the Doctor, being captured by an Orb aboard the Eleven's stellar manipulator and prepared for dissection. However, Paine arrived and stopped it, allowing her and Liv to flee to the TARDIS. (AUDIO: The Satanic Mill)
After this ordeal, the Doctor took her and Liv to Stegmoor to recuperate. She wanted to go somewhere a bit more alien. She helped to move the Doctor when he fell unconscious. She told the Doctor about the Voord spaceship on the beach. (AUDIO: Beachhead)
She couldn't understand the dimensions of the antic TARDIS. Caleera used her powers to empathise with her. (AUDIO: Scenes From Her Life) When they landed in San Francisco, 1906 Liv trusted her guide her round the city as it was closer to her time then Liv's. She was taken by Aldo Deluca because he wanted to know about the gift. (AUDIO: The Gift)
On Syra, Ruslan tried to threaten her into the truth and then trapped her with River Song. She helped River to contact Galactic Heritage and promised to keep her secret. (AUDIO: The Sonomancer)

The Diary of River Song Seires 1 Synopsis
1.1 The Boundless Sea by Jenny T Colgan
River Song has had more than enough excitement for a while. Deciding the universe – and her husband – can look after themselves, she has immersed herself in early 20th century academia, absorbed in writing archaeological theses.
But when a mysterious tomb is found in a dry, distant land, excitement comes looking for River.
Can Professor Song stop any more members of the expedition from dying? What deadly secrets lie buried within the crypt? And will British Consul Bertie Potts prove to be a help, or a hindrance?1.2 I Went to a Marvellous Party by Justin Richards River Song always enjoys a good party, even when she’s not entirely sure where or when the party is taking place. But the party she ends up at is one where not everything – or indeed everyone – is what it seems… Being River, it doesn’t take her too long to go exploring, and it doesn’t take her too long to get into trouble. The sort of trouble that involves manipulating other civilisations, exploitation, and of course murder. River is confident she can find the killer. But can she identify them before anyone else – or quite possibly everyone else – gets killed?
1.3 Signs by James Goss River Song is on the trail of the mysterious, planet-killing SporeShips. Nobody knows where they come from. Nobody knows why they are here. All they do know is that wherever the SporeShips appear, whole civilisations are reduced to mulch. But River has help. Her companion is a handsome time-travelling stranger, someone with specialist knowledge of the oddities and dangers the universe has to offer. For Mr Song has a connection to River’s future, and he would never want his wife to face those perils alone…
1.4 The Rulers of the Universe by Matt Fitton As shocking secrets are exposed, and a grand plan for the universe is revealed, River decides it’s time she took control of events once and for all. Out in deep space, a clandestine society faces off with an ancient and powerful alien force – but, for River, there’s an added complication. The Eighth Doctor has been caught in the middle, and she must make sure her future husband can arrive at his own destiny with all his memories – not to mention his lives - intact… Written By: Jenny T Colgan, Justin Richards, James Goss, Matt Fitton Directed By: Ken Bentley Cast Alex Kingston (River Song), Paul McGann (The Doctor), Alexander Vlahos (Bertie Potts), Alexander Siddig (Marcus Gifford), Imogen Stubbs (Isabella Clerkwell), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Prim), Charlotte Christie (Daphne Garsington), Alisdair Simpson (Colonel Lifford), Oliver Dimsdale (Archie Ferrers), John Banks (Professor Straiton), Letty Butler (Spritz), John Voce (Jenkins), Aaron Neil (Sanukuma Master) and Samuel West (Mr Song). River Song to Encounter the 8th Doctor
Doctor Who’s River Song is set to make her triumphant return to the Whoniverse!!next year — but not with Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor. Instead, River (voiced by Alex Kingston) will cross paths with Paul McGann’s Eighth Time Lord in Big Finish’s radio drama Doctor Who: Doom Coalition 2 next February.
That means that she’ll meet up with her future hubby two incarnations before he meets her for the first time as the Tenth Doctor (played by David Tennant) in the Season 4 two-parter "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead," which aired back in 2008. This could be problematic for Alex Kingston’s time-traveling archaeologist: She must help her beloved Time Lord without him finding out who she is, or even without him seeing her in the first place.
Producer David Richardson said: "The idea of River meeting previous Doctors was actually proposed by Steven Moffat, and it's just irresistible, isn't it? Alex embraced the idea of returning to the role, and so she will be starring in no less than two box sets next year. And yes, we are still pinching ourselves!"
Along with Doctor Who: Doom Coalition 2, River will also return for a second four-hour Big Finish adventure in 2016, called The Diary of River Song. In it, River will once again join up with Paul McGann’s Doctor as she crosses all of time and space in order to seek the "secret rulers of the universe."

Liv Chenka
Liv Chenka was a female human originally from the planet Kaldor, and a companion of the Doctor in his seventh and (primarily) eighth incarnations.
Before encountering the Doctor, she worked as a spaceship medical technician. Liv served aboard The Lorelei cargo spaceship. She encountered the Seventh Doctor shortly before a group of Voc robots began to attack the crew of her ship. She helped the Doctor to discover that the Voc robots were not behind the attacks, and found that the ship's security chief, Farel, dressed as a robot when instigating an attack. Liv and the Doctor then prevented Farel from crashing the Lorelei into Ventalis. Liv stayed behind on Ventalis after the Doctor had departed. (AUDIO: Robophobia)
Liv was present on Nixyce VII when the Daleks invaded. She was used by the Dalek time controller to be a source of compassion amongst the natives of Nixyce VII. It was here she encountered the Doctor for the second time, although she did not recognize him at first because he had regenerated since they last met. Eventually she was convinced of his identity, and she helped in with his plans to turn the Daleks against an Eminence fleet nearby. (AUDIO: The Traitor) Liv eventually fled the Dalek invasion, in the bowels of a cargo ship, but suffered severe radiation poisoning as a result, which compromised her metabolism, and condemned her to death, be it through embolism or renal failure, whichever would strike first. (AUDIO: The Reviled)
Because of this, she signed up as a med-tech on the science vessel Orpheus and went into cryo-sleep on board for a thousand years. She awoke when the Orpheus had reached the edge of the universe. Liv once again met the Doctor on board the Orpheus, shortly before it came under attack from the Eminence, and it began to possess the crew. Liv planned on blowing herself up next to a piece of the Eminence in order to stop its plan, but was rescued by the Doctor. She promptly joined him on his adventures. (AUDIO: Time's Horizon)
Liv travelled with the Doctor to London in the 1970s, where she helped the Doctor to defeat the Master and the Eminence. After they were defeated, the Doctor made Liv stay behind in London with his companion Molly at his home in Baker Street, due the fact that they had met out of order - he had to play out the events in which Liv first met him on Nixyce VII. (AUDIO: Eyes of the Master)
When Molly O'Sullivan disappeared, Liv suspected the worst and was able to fashion a crude communications device from the technology of the era, and sent out a distress call which was intercepted by Coordinator Narvin of the Celestial Intervention Agency. (AUDIO: The Death of Hope)
Liv was later sent by Narvin to help the Doctor fight the Master and the Eminence, sending her to Ramossa, where she worked to improve the conditions of the humans refugees of the Eminence War who had settled there, alongside the native scorpion-like Ramossans, who began to depise their visitors and the danger they placed them in. When the humans were isolated into a 'quarantine camp', Liv worked to make conditions livable and acted as a medic to the injured, while waiting for the Doctor to arrive. Once he did, together, they worked out a way to make sure the humans escaped an incoming Eminence attack, however, their plan failed resulting in the complete destruction of the Ramossans, their world, and the Master securing the refugees for his own purposes. (AUDIO: The Reviled)
Scared by the Doctor's determination to avert the war, but willing to go along with him, she snuck aboard the private research complex of Professor Markus Schriver, the man responsible for the eventual creation of the Eminence itself, and posed as an assistant sent to him by the Ides Scientific Institute. She became concerned by his mental health, but facilitated a meeting between him and the Doctor, which only reinforced the fact he was slowly loosing his sanity. Her cover was blown by the arrival of Dr. Sally Armstrong, working for the Master, and she would have died during a neural extraction procedure if Shriver's insanity hadn't caused him to trap Sally inside a second chamber and program the computer to decide which one would undergo the procedure through random chance. Due to her condition, Liv was ready for death, but in the end survived when the computer 'chose' Sally instead. She was then taken by the Master instead to play nursemaid to Molly, who was suffering from the mental conditioning and retro-genitor particles that Master had assaulted her with. (AUDIO: Masterplan)
Liv was present on Earth as the Master set up his final endgame, with the eventual result that all of humanity was slave to his will, only able to keep Molly stable and calm during her moments of wakefulness. When Narvin, working with the Doctor, tried to rescue her, she tried to shot the Master with a hidden firearm, but his hypnotic abilities caused her to believe she was finally succumbing to her illness. However, the Master revealed it was all in her mind, and that her continuous exposure to the particles inside Molly had in fact cured her of the radiation poisoning. She was eventually rescued from the Master's grasp by the Doctor, and sent by him to take control of a nearby television communications hub, which proved essential to ending the Master's control over the Earth, and defeating the Eminence in the here and now. Afterwards, she was invited onboard the TARDIS as a full fledged companion, even being given a TARDIS key of her own, and said her farewells to Molly, who was to be sent home by Narvin for her own protection. (AUDIO: Rule of the Eminence)
She visited London 1921 when the Doctor was looking for Molly. She hated looking out of place in her usual attire, so wore clothes of the era. The Doctor then asked her to take Martin Donaldson out on the town. When Martin took her to see a Buster Keaton film she pointed out the flaws in it. The Woman was looking for her. (AUDIO: A Life in the Day)
She went to Paris with the Doctor when he tracked the TARDIS to there. She talked to Georges Legrand which led her to Adelaine Dutemps. She kicked down the Doctor's artist friends apartment door. She told the Dalek Time Controller about the outcome of The Eminence war. (AUDIO: The Monster of Montmartre)
Liv was disgusted that the Master was working with the Daleks. She got used to being taken prisoner by the Daleks. She expected the Master of being better than using the Daleks. She attacked the Master with the Perfume the Doctor gave her in Paris, and stole his Tissue Compression Eliminator. She went to Moscow with him to find the Doctor. She blew Molly O'Sullivan's cover there. (AUDIO: Master of the Daleks)
She became worried after Molly became ill after they arrived in the Eye of Orion. The Time Controller then took her to see Markus Schriver's final experiments. She witness the birth of the Eminence. The Dalek Time Controller wanted her to transfer his mind into the gas the Eminence were composed of, she wouldn't. She wanted the Dalek Time Controller to die to save billions. She took Molly home after her sacrifice. (AUDIO: Eye of Darkness)

Chenka joins him in a desperate race to save their friend and stop the
Master.

Dark Eyes 2: February 2014
When the Doctor defeated the Dalek Time Controller and its Time Lord ally, the timelines shifted and events changed... but the danger is far from over. And new threats to the continued safety of the universe are emerging.
Molly O'Sullivan carried on with her life as a nursing assistant in World War One. She probably thought she would never see the Doctor in his 'Tardy-box' again...
From the Dalek occupied planet Nixyce VII through Earth's history and to the very edge of the universe, the Doctor's footprints across eternity are being tracked by foes old and new. But when did it all begin and when will it end? Living his life through the complexities of time travel, the Doctor can never be quite sure if he's experiencing his life in the most helpful order. The only certainty appears to be the advance of the powers of evil and the oncoming threat of a fight to the death against forces that would destroy everything the Doctor holds dear.
Part 1: The Traitor
by Nicholas Briggs
Nixyce VII is under Dalek occupation. For many, their only hope of survival is decent medical care, as slave working conditions under the Dalek regime are appalling. But when you help people to survive under the rule of the Daleks, are you actually helping the Daleks? Med-tech Liv Chenka doesn't have the luxury of pondering these dilemmas. She must just do what she feels is right.
But then there are the soldiers of last resort... The freedom fighters left behind to cause maximum damage to the Dalek war effort, at whatever cost. To them, anyone who seems to be helping the Daleks is a traitor.
And when the Doctor arrives, his secret agenda throws him into conflict with everyone.
Part 2: The White Room
by Alan Barnes
Molly O'Sullivan is still trying to help people, but now she is back in London, staying in Baker Street.
But there are dangerous forces abroad. Where are the young deserters disappearing to? Who are the Huntsmen? And what is really going on at the Blackwell Convalescent Home?
Perhaps the mysterious 'Surgeon General' has the answers. To find out, the Doctor must tackle an old and baffling enemy.
Part 3: Time's Horizon
by Matt Fitton
The Doctor and Molly find themselves at the very edge of creation. But something dangerous seems to be heading back into the known universe from the very end of time.
The crew of the cryo-ship Orpheus, including its medical officer Liv Chenka, have their mission parameters to adhere to; but the arrival of the Doctor and Molly changes everything. An ancient and terrible force is on a collision course with them all and the outcome seems to be a matter of divine destiny.
Part 4: Eyes of the Master
by Matt Fitton
The Doctor, Liv and Molly arrive back on Earth in the 1970s to investigate the Ides Institute. The timelines have shifted since the Doctor and Molly first travelled here and all is not as it was. Dr Sally Armstrong is still working for the Ides, but her associate has a devastating plan in mind.
Soon, Molly's 'dark eyes' prove to be at the centre of a plot to seize control of all life in the universe.
